DART Releases Video of Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting at Victory Station

DALLAS, Texas – DART Police have released new surveillance video detailing the moments leading up to the fatal shooting of a 17‑year‑old, identified only as K.B., at Victory Station on Sunday night.

According to DART, a 911 caller reported a person with a gun at the station. The newly released surveillance footage shows an individual on the platform holding a raised weapon.

When officers arrived at the scene, DART stated that the teen ran from officers and later pointed a rifle toward them. Officers then opened fire. On the video, officers can be heard shouting “Shots fired. Shots fired,” followed by what a DART spokesperson described as “a sizable amount of shots” striking the individual. The teen was hit multiple times and later died.

DART has not released further identifying information about the teenager beyond his age and initials.

In the aftermath of the shooting, DART announced that it is bringing in the Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit to assist with the investigation. DART officials noted that they are also looking into why certain decisions were made during the incident, stating, “It’s not clear why that decision was made, but something we’re looking into as well.”
