Two paramedics were killed and five others wounded on Sunday when Israeli airstrikes targeted medical facilities affiliated with the Islamic Health Organization in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
The ministry said two separate strikes directly hit facilities in the towns of Qlayleh and Tebnine in the Bint Jbeil district. In Qlayleh, one paramedic was killed and three were wounded. In Tebnine, one paramedic was killed and two were injured.
The Health Ministry condemned the strikes as a continued violation of international laws. It also updated the overall death toll from Israeli strikes since the war began to 2,846, including 108 health and emergency workers.
Lebanese authorities reported Israeli airstrikes on more than 20 locations in southern Lebanon, including villages where the Israeli army had warned residents to evacuate in advance.
In response, the Israeli military stated that its forces struck more than 20 terror infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon on Sunday, including Hezbollah weapons storage facilities and headquarters.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for more than 20 attacks on Israeli military targets in southern Lebanon and along the border, frequently using drones.
The incidents occurred despite a ceasefire, though the truce terms released by Washington allow Israel to act against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks. Lebanon and Israel are preparing for a third round of indirect talks, scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Washington. Veteran Lebanese diplomat Simon Karam was recently appointed by President Joseph Aoun to lead the Lebanese delegation. The first landmark meeting between the two countries, which have no diplomatic relations, took place before US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire. The second round followed his announcement of a three-week truce extension.
