SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Two people were detained Wednesday afternoon following a knife fight in the heart of downtown San Antonio’s Main Plaza, according to Bexar County authorities.

The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. near Main Street and Soledad, prompting a large law enforcement response. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the altercation began as a fight before knives became involved.

County deputies working court security were the first to respond to the scene.

One man was seen in handcuffs with blood on his shirt and an apparent stab wound, but the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both individuals involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have detained two people in connection with the incident. As of Wednesday evening, it remained unclear what sparked the fight.

Main Plaza was roped off and marked as a crime scene, with investigators combing the area to determine exactly how the violence unfolded.
