Trump Warns Iran: Time Running Out for Deal as Strait of Hormuz Tensions Escalate

President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, urging it to move quickly toward a deal or face severe consequences. In a social media post, Trump stated: “They better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

The message underscores that Iran is running out of time to reach an agreement. Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with proposals put forward by Iran, highlighting a lack of trust between the two sides amid ongoing tough rhetoric from both.

According to reports, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a conversation with Iran as a major focus. Negotiations remain stalled, with neither side showing willingness to make concessions.

A key point of contention is the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping corridor. There is an international push to restore safe passage for vessels. Iran has proposed a new mechanism allowing ships to transit the strait, but only for parties that cooperate with it. Under this plan, Iran would collect fees for “specialized services” and safe passage.

Iran’s National Security Chief stated that parties cooperating with Iran would benefit from the arrangement, while the route would remain closed to operators of the so-called “freedom project” or “freedom convoy.” This approach conflicts with the principle of freedom of navigation under international law, particularly for American ships and allied vessels.

Both sides continue to hold firm positions, with no immediate signs of breakthrough. Developments are being closely watched in the coming hours and days.
