Officers responded to reports of gunshots on Rome Road just before 6 a.m. Around the same time, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds. The teenage boy did not survive. The woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police have arrested 22-year-old Jackal Arnold. He faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, and firearm-related offenses. Investigators say the case remains active.
In a separate development, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is examining a body found in a Cherokee County barn. The sheriff’s office reported that Thursday afternoon, deputies went to a home on Land Road in Canton after a caller reported a body inside a barn. Investigators say the body appeared to have been there for several days, and due to its condition, identification has not yet been possible. The remains have been transported to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.
