MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — A 37-year-old woman led police on an eight-mile chase across Milwaukee County Friday night, weaving through the narrow streets of Bayshore Mall before officers stopped the vehicle with a PIT maneuver and arrested her.
The pursuit began on the city’s south side when Milwaukee police initiated a traffic stop for a registration violation near 22nd and Scott. The driver fled, triggering a cross-county chase that ended near Port Washington and Hampton.
Video obtained from Glendale police shows officers used three different methods during the pursuit to halt the fleeing driver. The first attempt — a stop stick deployment — failed as the driver continued. A second attempt inside the mall involved a squad car blocking the vehicle’s path, but the driver headed straight for it, ran into the front corner of the squad, and still got around it.
Once the car exited the mall and headed southbound on Port Washington Road, officers executed a third and final attempt: a PIT maneuver. Footage from the Department of Transportation shows a squad slightly tapping the back corner of the car, bringing it to a stop.
Witness video captured police dragging the woman out of the car. Police said she was arrested and taken to a hospital for medical clearance.
Authorities confirmed no one else was injured in the pursuit. Police are referring charges against the 37-year-old woman to the District Attorney’s office. The investigation remains with Milwaukee police, as the chase originated within the city.
