Oak Creek Police Release Bodycam Footage of Officer Struck by Vehicle; Suspect in Custody, Woman Sought

OAK CREEK, Wisconsin – Authorities have released body camera footage showing an Oak Creek police officer being hit by a car outside a Red Roof Inn, as the search continues for a female suspect who fled the scene.

The incident occurred on April 18th near 13th and College. According to police, a hotel employee had called authorities to report that a man was drunk and giving the employee a hard time.

The body camera video captures an officer struggling with a man outside the hotel. The man then puts the car in reverse, striking the woman he was with before pinning the officer against his squad car. On the video, an officer can be heard shouting, “Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop, stop. You’re not free to go.” Another voice is heard saying, “I just got ran over.”

The driver has been identified as Antonio McAfee. He is currently in custody and facing criminal charges.

The officer sustained injuries to his foot and leg. Police are still actively looking for the woman seen in the video, who walked away from the injured officer after the collision.

The Racine County Sheriff’s investigators are leading the independent investigation into the incident.
