Multiple Dogs Die in East-Side San Antonio Trailer Fire

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A fire at a trailer home on the east side of the city left multiple dogs dead Wednesday afternoon, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The blaze broke out just after noon on Toronto Drive, near the intersection of 10 and 1604 on the far northwest side. Neighbors rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to rescue the dogs trapped inside the burning mobile home, as heavy smoke and flames poured from the structure.

Firefighters arrived and worked to knock down the flames. “We’re able to get it knocked out within about 15 minutes,” a spokesperson for the San Antonio Fire Department said. “There was no injuries to any residents or firefighters, but unfortunately there were multiple dogs inside. I don’t have an exact count on dogs. ACS will most likely be able to provide you with further information on the dogs.”

Officials confirmed no people were injured in the incident. It remains unclear how many animals were inside the home at the time of the fire. Animal Care Services (ACS) is expected to release additional information on the dogs.
