Man Charged With Murder in Fatal Stone Mountain Shooting

DEKALB COUNTY, Georgia — One person is dead and another is in custody following a fatal shooting Friday afternoon in Stone Mountain, according to law enforcement officials.

Officers responded around noon to Reedan Trail, located near Reedan High School, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, investigators discovered a 32-year-old man near a creek with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities arrested a 26-year-old man shortly after and charged him with murder. In a statement, investigators indicated the incident appears to have originated from an argument, though the specific circumstances remain under active investigation.

“We found the victim near a creek with multiple gunshot wounds,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “The suspect was taken into custody and charged accordingly.”

The DeKalb County Police Department continues to gather evidence and interview witnesses. No further details about the relationship between those involved or the nature of the dispute have been released at this time.
