FORT WORTH, Texas — Four people, including a child and a police officer, were injured Saturday night when a gunman opened fire on a crowd gathered for a community event at Historic Stop Six Park, Fort Worth police confirmed.
The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. near East Rossdale Street, adjacent to the park. Authorities said approximately 300 people were present when the suspect began firing into the crowd.
According to Fort Worth police spokespersons, the victims include a woman struck in the head, an elderly woman hit in the hip, a child who was grazed by a bullet, and a police officer whose vehicle windshield was penetrated by a bullet; shrapnel from the impact struck the officer in the neck. All four victims survived the shooting.
Surveillance footage captured the initial moments of the gunfire. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene on foot, running toward nearby apartment complexes. As of the latest update, no suspect is in custody.
“Major Case has been notified and is actively working the case,” a Fort Worth police spokesperson stated. “We do ask that if you or anyone you know has any information or can help identify anyone involved in this incident to please contact the Fort Worth Police Department.”
Authorities continue to review evidence and are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
