40-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot Inside SUV in Brighton Park

CHICAGO, Illinois — A fatal shooting in the Brighton Park neighborhood has left a 40-year-old man dead after he was gunned down while sitting inside an SUV on Monday evening.

According to a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department, the deadly incident unfolded at approximately 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of 38th Street and California Avenue. Authorities report that the victim was seated in the vehicle when an unknown suspect approached the SUV, drew a firearm, and fired multiple shots.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the critically wounded victim to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Despite life-saving medical efforts, a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Area detectives have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the homicide. A police spokesperson stated that the suspect fled the scene following the attack and confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
