Woman Escapes After Man Posing as Officer Handcuffs Her on I-80

A New Jersey man is under investigation after allegedly impersonating a police officer and handcuffing a woman on Interstate 80, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Authorities said the suspect was driving a red Chrysler when he allegedly attempted to stop a woman on I-80 near Exit 28 in Roxbury Township.

The New Jersey State Police reported that the victim was given a field sobriety test and then handcuffed by the suspect. She was able to escape and subsequently drove to State Police to file a report.

The investigation remains active. No further details about the suspect’s identity have been released at this time.
