Three Children Among Five Injured in Bronx Apartment Fire

Five people have been injured, including three children listed in serious condition, following a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in a six-story apartment building in the Fordham section of the Bronx.

According to spokesperson Shannon Stone, who reported live from the scene, the fire started at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the block between 193rd and 194th Street, with flames also spilling onto a neighboring thoroughfare.

Firefighters remain on the scene and are now gaining the upper hand on the blaze. However, officials confirm that five individuals sustained injuries, three of whom are children. All three children are currently listed in serious condition.

One of the injured victims appeared to have suffered from smoke inhalation, authorities noted. An active investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, with fire crews still present on the avenue.
