DALY CITY, California — A 15-year-old boy was arrested Friday evening following a stabbing incident at Westmoor High School after the institution’s graduation ceremony, Daly City Police confirmed.
Officers responded to reports of a multi-person altercation around 4:30 p.m. at the school. Upon arrival, they discovered a 21-year-old adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, who has no affiliation with the school district, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover, according to police.
The teenager was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities confirmed the weapon involved was recovered at the scene. While initial reports focused on one arrest, a statement from the Westmoor High School principal noted that several suspects have been detained, though further details regarding minors involved are being withheld by the Daly City Police Department in accordance with laws protecting individuals under 18.
In a statement released Saturday, the Westmoor High School principal emphasized that district and school officials are cooperating fully with local authorities. “The safety and well-being of our students, families, staff, and community remains my highest priority,” the principal stated.
A witness who provided video footage of the aftermath, identified only as “AB,” described the shock among students following the incident. “They’re just trying to find the details or trying to find who’s affected,” the witness said, adding that learning a 15-year-old was allegedly involved in a stabbing “really takes you out of it.” The witness noted that while conflicts sometimes occur in high school settings, violence of this severity is “just shocking” and represents “a whole different level.”
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation. No further information about the suspects or motive has been released at this time.
