A meteor that exploded off the coast triggered a sonic boom across New England, with new video footage emerging from Upstate New York capturing the celestial event.

A witness said he was returning from lunch with a friend when he noticed a bright glow in the sky. The sighting took place in Rome, New York, a city located approximately 40 miles east of Syracuse.

“Imagine you’re just driving and you see that in the sky,” the witness said, describing the moment the bright glow appeared on the horizon.
