Johns Creek Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide; Three Teens Unharmed

JOHNS CREEK, Georgia — Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home on North Hillbrook Trace following a domestic dispute that escalated to gunfire late Sunday night.

Just before 11:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call placed by a teenager inside the residence, who reported that a fight between their parents had turned violent. Dispatchers instructed the juveniles to leave the home immediately, and they were safely outside when officers arrived on scene.

Johns Creek Police Major Todd Hood confirmed that three children—ages 17, 13, and 12—were unharmed and are receiving support. Their parents, identified as Richard and Martha Holiday, were found deceased inside the home with apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that Richard had taken the life of Martha and that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Major Hood said. He emphasized that the investigation remains in its early stages and that detectives continue to gather evidence.

Authorities noted there is no prior history of police contact with the residence. “Searching through our call history here, we have never had contact with those two individuals. We’ve never had a call to that residence before,” Major Hood stated.

The department is coordinating with support services to assist the children and extended family during this time. “Our hearts and prayers go out to those family members and friends of those, and especially the young male juveniles,” Major Hood added.

Police say additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
