Girl, 7, Found with 90 Wounds and Tied in Bathtub Before Death, Prosecutors Say

Seven-year-old Jor’Dynn Duncan was tied up and placed in a bathtub inside her Bayport home, repeatedly struck in the face, and assaulted with sharp objects in the months leading up to her death last December, according to Suffolk County prosecutors.

The injuries caused a tear in the child’s colon, which led to a fatal infection, prosecutors said in court.

Three generations of the same family — the girl’s father’s fiancée, the fiancée’s mother, and the fiancée’s daughter — now face charges in connection with the torture and death of Jor’Dynn, who had been living with her father’s fiancée when she died last year.

The Suffolk County district attorney told local media that the child “was an extraordinary child” and “certainly deserved better.”

According to prosecutors, Jor’Dynn’s body bore more than 90 wounds. Much of the evidence came from text messages and videos recovered from the defendants’ phones after investigators obtained a search warrant.

“It’s sadistic. It’s horrible,” the district attorney said. “And I worked in a mental institution for 31 and a half years. And when I heard that — and I’ve heard a lot and seen a lot — but when I heard that…”

The fiancée was indicted on second-degree murder, unlawful imprisonment, reckless endangerment, and other charges. Her 75-year-old mother and 24-year-old daughter were also indicted.

An attorney for one of the defendants argued in court that “the evidence will show that this was a tragic accident, a result of no depraved indifference or malicious intent whatsoever.”

Prosecutors said Child Protective Services placed Jor’Dynn with the fiancée in 2024. When asked about the case and CPS’s involvement, a Suffolk County spokesman said, “No comment.”

Neighbors on the block said they had no idea what was allegedly going on inside the girl’s home and are devastated. One resident said Jor’Dynn “was the prettiest thing,” adding that the girl came to her house every year on Halloween.

“It’s just heartbreaking,” the neighbor said. “If there was anything we could have done, we would have.”
