China Welcomes Trump Visit Ahead of Xi Summit Talks

China has welcomed the upcoming state visit by U.S. President Donald Trump, with Beijing signaling cautious optimism ahead of expected high-level talks between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping aimed at easing tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Speaking during a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said both countries should work to “manage differences” while expanding areas of cooperation and addressing shared global challenges.

The anticipated summit is expected to focus heavily on trade disputes, geopolitical tensions, and broader concerns surrounding global stability as strategic competition between Washington and Beijing continues to intensify.

Chinese officials indicated that the visit could provide an opportunity to stabilize relations after years of friction over economic policy, security issues, and international influence.

The briefing also drew attention to the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to China amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing diplomatic coordination between Beijing and Tehran.

Chinese officials did not provide extensive details regarding the Iran discussions but emphasized China’s continued engagement in international diplomatic efforts and regional stability initiatives.

The developments come as global attention remains focused on the evolving relationship between the United States and China, with analysts closely watching whether the Trump–Xi meeting could ease tensions or reshape diplomatic and economic ties between the two powers.
