Baby Girl Dies After Stabbing in Gage Park Home

CHICAGO — A baby girl stabbed in the chest inside a Gage Park home has died, Chicago police said.

The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. near West 59th Street and Albany Avenue. Officers reported the baby was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the suspect knew the victim and the incident appears to be domestic-related. After the stabbing, the suspect jumped from an upper-level window and was transported to UIC Hospital, where they are in stable condition. Police recovered the alleged knife at the scene, and the suspect is now in custody with charges pending.

The exact relationship between the baby and the suspect remains unclear. Two other children were taken from the home.

Neighbors expressed shock upon learning of the stabbing death of the baby girl. The apartment manager at the building told reporters he was working to provide more details about the incident and the relationship involved.
