Abbott Expands Disaster Declaration After EF‑3 Tornado Ravages Mineral Wells

MINERAL WELLS, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott has expanded a state disaster declaration to include Palo Pinto County and the community of Mineral Wells following the devastation caused by an EF‑3 tornado that struck the area on Tuesday.

The tornado damaged more than 130 buildings, leaving 23 homes and businesses destroyed or completely flattened. Local officials are now warning residents that the road to recovery will be a lengthy one.

The Mayor of Mineral Wells stated that the rebuilding effort will likely take months. The expanded disaster declaration makes additional state resources available to assist in the aftermath of the powerful storm.
