FORT WORTH, Texas – A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting at a North Fort Worth apartment complex, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at the 35 West Apartment units, located just south of the Tanger Outlets and Buc-ee’s.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed the shooting but has not released details about what led to the initial confrontation. However, law enforcement sources indicate the incident involved members of the Texas Attorney General’s Office serving a warrant to a suspect.
According to information released by officials, the suspect attacked the officers and was then shot. The suspect was killed in the exchange. Multiple police departments, including North Lake and Fort Worth Police, responded to the scene.
The Texas Rangers are taking the lead in the investigation. Earlier in the day, the Rangers released a statement saying there is no danger to the public.
Residents of the apartment complex expressed alarm following the heavy police presence.
“I had looked on Next Door and I saw that it was an officer involved shooting. I saw my address, so I was quite shocked,” one resident said.
Another resident described the scene: “There was like ten police cars here, and they pretty much cleared out most of it as of right now. But I was kind of walked to the back and the guy said that it was something involving a warrant, and they were trying to arrest the guy, and he pulled a knife on them.”
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect. The investigation remains active.
