Driver Charged After Video Shows Car Chasing Young Boy on E-Bike Along Washington Sidewalk

WASHINGTON  — Authorities have arrested a woman after disturbing cell phone video captured a driver allegedly jumping a curb and speeding down a sidewalk in pursuit of a young boy riding an e-bike.

Witnesses on the scene can be heard reacting in shock as the vehicle swerved toward the child before returning to the road. The boy’s mother described her son’s terrified reaction to the incident.

“He said he looked back just in disbelief, like, is she really coming after me in her car?” the mother said. “And then when he realized she is, that’s when he took off.”

According to the mother, the boy was left shaken and scared. “He thought for sure she was going to run him over,” she said. “Which, you know, if he had skid out or fallen, she would have.”

Authorities confirmed that the driver jumped a curb and drove on the sidewalk in an attempt to hit the e-bike rider before steering back onto the road. Officials say that had the boy fallen at any point during the chase, he likely would have been struck.

A short time later, investigators reported that the same woman was spotted trying to break into homes in the area. Sheriff’s deputies subsequently arrested her.

She now faces numerous charges, including DUI, assault, and trespassing. An investigation remains underway.
