US Strikes Iran for Second Consecutive Day as Trump Ends Ceasefire Over Strait of Hormuz

WASHINGTON — The United States launched a new wave of military strikes against Iran on Thursday, marking the second consecutive day of bombardment after President Donald Trump officially declared the existing ceasefire void. The rapid escalation follows recent Iranian aggression against commercial vessels in the critical Strait of Hormuz.

According to a statement released on X by US Central Command, the additional military operations were executed at the direction of the commander-in-chief. The primary objective of the ongoing campaign is to further degrade Iran’s capability to threaten freedom of navigation within the vital international waterway.

US Central Command emphasized that the military action is intended to hold Iran accountable for what they described as unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and the civilian crews freely navigating the strait. In total, the US has responded to the maritime attacks with a massive wave of airstrikes targeting nearly 100 sites within Iranian territory.

The latest military action comes just hours after President Donald Trump publicly announced that the ceasefire with Iran was officially over, signaling that further strikes were imminent.

The international response to the renewed conflict has begun to take shape, with the NATO chief publicly stating that the violent US response was absolutely necessary given the circumstances.

Alongside the military escalation, the US has also taken severe economic action. Officials confirmed that America has revoked oil sanction waivers that had previously been granted to Iran amid ongoing peace talks, further tightening economic pressure on the nation.

As the US and Iran exchange blows, tensions across the Middle East continue to sharply uptick, leaving the international community closely monitoring the next strategic moves from both nations.
