Fatal Shooting at Center Street Park Under Investigation

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday evening at Center Street Park, located at 64th and Center Street.

Deputies responded to the park, which sits on the border of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, at approximately 6:45 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities encountered a significant law enforcement presence at the scene.

According to a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, the incident unfolded during a picnic-style gathering. A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and later pronounced dead.

Investigators have arrested a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman in connection with the shooting. A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson stated that the suspect was found in possession of two firearms at the time of arrest.

Authorities confirmed that the victim and the suspect were acquainted prior to the incident. The investigation remains active as detectives work to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
