Man Fatally Stabbed Near Downtown San Antonio Library; Police Seek Suspects

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A man died after being found stabbed multiple times near the Central Library in downtown San Antonio on Memorial Day morning, prompting a homicide investigation by the San Antonio Police Department.

Police responded to the area of Augusta and Navarro Street around 11:30 a.m. Monday following an anonymous call reporting a person on the sidewalk who appeared to have been stabbed in the stomach. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious man without a pulse. Emergency medical services attempted resuscitation efforts, but the victim was later pronounced dead at BMC.

Authorities confirmed the victim sustained three stab wounds to his upper body. While the man has not yet been publicly identified, police believe he was between his 20s and 40s.

Sergeant Mount stated that investigators believe an altercation occurred between the victim and at least one other individual. Police are seeking information about a potential group of one to four people who may have knowledge of the incident.

“We have not located any weapons,” Sergeant Mount said, adding that multiple agencies are conducting interviews in the area and that people of interest have been identified.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from cameras located on nearby facilities and street infrastructure. The homicide unit remains on scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police urge anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward. The investigation remains active.
