San Antonio Woman, 24, Found Dead in Apartment; Man Detained as Murder Suspect

San Antonio, Texas — San Antonio police made a grim discovery Friday morning at a northeast-side apartment complex, where the body of a 24-year-old woman was found.

The investigation began just before 10 a.m. Authorities reported two connected scenes: the apartment unit off Eisenhower Road east of 410, where the victim was discovered, and a location a few miles away on the 7200 block of Montgomery Drive.

At the Montgomery Drive address, officers detained a man who was brought in for questioning as a suspect in the murder. According to investigators, the woman had been cut in a manner that led to her death.

Local resident Burt Powell, who was feeding his dogs when he noticed San Antonio police and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office personnel in front of his neighbor’s home, expressed shock at the incident.

“It’s sad, man. I mean, the world is really crazy now,” Powell said. “When I was raised, it was all about the knuckles. Now it’s, it’s get it how you get it… I just hate it, man. But everyone needs to get back into the church because we’re at the end of times. It just makes me kind of make me feel unsafe.”

Another resident, Tracy, said she now wants to move her family out of the area.

“You never really know what’s going on down the street,” she said, especially after learning of the discovery.

The investigation continues with more questions than answers, including how the suspect and victim are related and exactly when the murder took place. There has been no word on whether the man taken into custody has been formally charged. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Authorities have not provided further details on the relationship between the suspect and victim at this time.
