President Donald J. Trump stated that Iran wants to make a deal to end the conflict with the United States and Israel, while emphasizing he is not ruling out additional military action if necessary.
Speaking at a campaign event in Rockland County, New York, alongside Congressman Mike Lawler, Trump addressed the ongoing situation in the Middle East. “Iran is going to have a nuclear weapon if we don’t stop them,” he said, adding that the war will be over soon.
Trump promised economic relief for Americans, stating that oil prices “are going to tumble as soon as I finish up with Iran.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick highlighted positive economic developments under the Trump Administration. Lutnick said the administration is bringing back manufacturing jobs, with businesses investing in America again and specifically in New York.
During the event, Trump and Congressman Mike Lawler praised the increase in the state and local tax (SALT) deduction from $10,000 to $40,000 in the “big, beautiful bill,” describing it as part of the largest tax cut in American history.
Lawler, who is seeking reelection in a highly competitive district that was carried by former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, joined Trump in the appearance. The district is also home to the family of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old murdered by an illegal immigrant. A family member thanked President Trump and Congressman Mike Lawler for their efforts to protect American children.
Trump also shared that he will not attend his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding this week. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote that while he “very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr. and the newest member of the Trump family, his soon-to-be wife, [name referenced as Patina in reports], circumstances pertaining to government and my love for the United States of America do not allow me to do so.”
Instead of traveling to his Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey, Trump said he would return to Washington, D.C., during this important time.
