Delta Expedites Review of Spirit Pilot Applications After Airline’s Collapse

Just days after thousands of Spirit Airlines employees lost their jobs due to the company shutting down, Delta Air Lines says it is moving faster to review pilot applications from Spirit in an effort to fill upcoming interview slots.

The airline emphasizes that its pilot hiring process is built on strict standards and a strong focus on safety. Delta stresses that every candidate is judged the same way on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Delta says it will keep using that process as it works to hire what it calls the “best and safest pilots in the industry.”

Spirit Airlines shut down over the weekend, canceling all flights and announcing it is going out of business. That move put at least 17,000 employees suddenly out of work.
