Rep. Jeff Van Drew Pushes for Voter Roll Cleanup to Ensure Election Integrity

WASHINGTON — Representative Jeff Van Drew is advocating for a comprehensive voter roll cleanup to ensure election integrity, emphasizing that verifying and updating voter registries is a necessary step to confirm only eligible American citizens are casting ballots.

Speaking on the ongoing efforts to audit and maintain accurate voting lists, the New Jersey Republican expressed frustration with judicial intervention, noting that it is unsurprising when judges attempt to block changes that have been debated for years. Van Drew questioned the controversy surrounding the review of voter polls, arguing that the foundational requirement for participating in an American election is United States citizenship.

According to Van Drew, the primary goal of turning over and reviewing the voter rolls is to remove individuals who should not be participating in the electoral process. He cited several specific factors that warrant removal from the registries, including individuals who are in the country illegally, those who are not U.S. citizens, and those who have passed away.

The congressman argued that maintaining accurate voter lists is a standard practice globally. He asserted that no other nation tolerates inaccurate voter rolls, drawing a sharp contrast between the United States and “third world,” “socialist nationalist,” or dictatorial regimes that he claims fail to verify whether their voters are legitimate.

When asked if he agrees with the President’s characterization of the current situation regarding voter accuracy as a national emergency, Van Drew affirmed the severity of the issue. He maintained that authorities must do whatever is necessary to guarantee that only “real people” are voting in American elections, reinforcing his stance that routine voter roll maintenance is critical to the security of the democratic process.
