San Francisco School Superintendent Summoned to Congressional Hearing on Parental Rights

Maria Su, Superintendent of the San Francisco Unified School District, is scheduled to testify before Congress tomorrow morning. Su has been summoned to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce for a hearing titled “Breaking Trust: Attacks on Parental Rights, Inappropriate Content and Legal Abuses in America’s Schools.”

Su and two other school district superintendents are expected to face questions concerning district policies related to gender identity, parental disclosure protocols, and curriculum content covering topics such as race and sexuality. The hearing reflects ongoing national debates over the balance between school autonomy, parental involvement, and student privacy in educational settings.

As the head of the Bay Area’s largest school district, Su’s testimony is anticipated to draw significant attention from education policymakers, advocacy groups, and families invested in the outcome of these legislative discussions.
