Two Charged Following Early Morning Shooting in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn District

ATLANTA, Georgia — Two individuals are facing criminal charges following a shooting incident in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood early Wednesday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Police spokespersons stated the confrontation began when two separate groups engaged in a verbal dispute while walking along Edgewood Avenue. During the altercation, a man who was accompanied by his girlfriend reportedly displayed a firearm, escalating the tension.

According to investigators, a man from the opposing group then discharged a weapon, striking the armed man twice. Following this, the girlfriend of the injured man pursued the other group while firing her weapon, resulting in a second individual being shot.

Local witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots from outside a nearby bar. Authorities emphasized that video evidence combined with witness statements led investigators to conclude the boyfriend and girlfriend were the initial aggressors in the incident.

Both individuals were taken into custody and formally charged in connection with the shooting. The condition of the two victims who were shot has not been publicly disclosed.

Police spokespersons urged anyone with additional information or footage of the incident to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
