CHICAGO, Illinois — Four people were shot Monday evening on Chicago’s West Side in a drive-by incident that left one man dead and three others hospitalized, including a teenager, according to police spokespersons.
The shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the Austin neighborhood on North Lockwood Street. Police spokespersons said the victims were standing on a sidewalk when an SUV pulled up and an occupant opened fire.
A 32-year-old man was struck in the face and later pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities confirmed. Two other men, both in their 30s, were transported in critical condition. A 15-year-old boy also wounded in the shooting is listed in fair condition.
No arrests have been made, and police spokespersons indicated the investigation remains active. Authorities are reviewing evidence and appealing for witnesses with information about the SUV or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The incident marks another act of gun violence in a city working to address public safety concerns. Police spokespersons urged anyone with video footage, dashcam recordings, or knowledge of the incident to contact investigators.
