A man who prosecutors say was recruited to take part in a murder-for-hire plot targeting a Brooklyn journalist has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison.
Prosecutors stated that Jonathan Loadholt was hired to stalk Masih Alinejad, a journalist, author, and human rights activist, with the ultimate goal of killing her. Loadholt was arrested by the FBI before he could carry out the plot.
He later pleaded guilty to one count related to the conspiracy. The sentence was handed down in federal court, bringing a close to the prosecution’s case against the man they described as a key participant in the scheme to silence the outspoken activist.
