Teen Recovering After Shooting at Universal City Apartment Complex

Universal City, Texas — Universal City police are searching for a suspect after a teenager was shot near the Villa Mesa Apartments. The victim, believed to be approximately 15 years old, is recovering from gunshot wounds.

According to neighbors, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in a community gathering area at the rear of the apartment complex. Law enforcement indicated the shooting may have stemmed from a robbery during an internet-arranged meeting, with reports suggesting the teen was meeting someone at the apartment when the situation escalated.

After the shooting, the injured teen ran nearly one block to seek assistance at On the Grind, a coffee shop adjacent to the complex. Molly Irish, an employee at the coffee shop, described the moment the victim arrived. “He came up to someone in the driveway, bleeding and begging for help,” Irish said. “I’m glad we were here and we were open and we were able to help.”

Police confirmed the investigation is active but stated they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community. Authorities have not yet released a physical description of the suspect but indicated additional updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
