Sheriff’s Squad Crashes in Milwaukee While Rushing Overdosing Detainee to Hospital

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — A Milwaukee County Sheriff’s squad car rolled over Saturday night after colliding with another vehicle while transporting a detainee who was experiencing a drug overdose.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 12th and State streets, just steps away from Marquette University’s campus.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy had just arrested an individual suspected of driving a stolen car. While en route to the hospital with lights and sirens activated, the squad car collided with one vehicle and then crashed into a third, causing the squad to roll over. Several people were injured in the incident.

The deputy sustained minor injuries from the airbag deployment. The overdosing detainee was revived at the scene with Narcan.
