Bystander Shot in Apparent Road Rage Incident on San Antonio’s Northeast Side

San Antonio, Texas — San Antonio police are investigating a shooting that authorities believe began as a road rage confrontation and left an innocent bystander wounded Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to the area of O’Connor Road and Misty Run Drive around 2:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting in progress. Police say the incident originated near Judson and Loop 1604, where two vehicles may have been involved in an exchange of gunfire.

The victim, a man in his late teens or early 20s, was found shot in a parking lot at the intersection of O’Connor and Stahl roads. According to police, he was an innocent bystander and was transported to a hospital, where he is expected to recover.

No arrests have been made, and police have not yet released descriptions of the suspect vehicles. Detectives remain on scene, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses in an effort to piece together the sequence of events.

The investigation spans multiple locations, including a nearby field, which has complicated the scene and left officers working to clarify exactly what occurred. There were no yellow police markers visible at the primary location due to the active and fluid nature of the probe.

The shooting occurred across the street from Madison High School. Police confirmed the incident did not involve any students or staff, and the school was never placed on lockdown or in any danger.

The case remains under active investigation.
